WASHINGTON D.C.: Republican leader in the U.S. House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy said that he would form a select committee on China if he is elected speaker of the chamber.
He also accused President Joe Biden's administration of not standing up to Beijing.
In an interview with Fox News, he said, "China is the No. 1 country when it comes to intellectual property theft. We will put a stop to this and no longer allow the administration to sit back and let China do what they are doing to America."
McCarthy also promised to oust several Democrats from key House committees, including the chairman of the intelligence committee, Representative Adam Schiff.
While he will need to secure enough votes to be formally elected when the new Congress takes office in January, McCarthy is vying to become speaker after his party won a narrow House majority in the midterm elections this month.
Testifying before Congress this week, FBI Director Christopher Wray told lawmakers that the U.S. was concerned about the Chinese government setting up unauthorized police stations in U.S. cities, McCarthy also told Fox News that the Republican party would "stop these police stations in America."
