BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- River Plate and Boca Juniors missed chances to move closer to leaders Atletico Tucuman when they were held to goalless draws in Argentina's Primera Division on Wednesday.
River controlled almost two thirds of possession but could manage only one shot on target in their visit to Arsenal Sarandi, while Boca lacked a cutting edge in attack in their home duel against Rosario Central.
The results leave River sixth in the 28-team standings, seven points off the pace, and Boca 13th, two points further back.
Arsenal and Rosario Central are 15th and 16th respectively.
In other fixtures on Wednesday, Newell's Old Boys won 2-0 at home to Lanus and Atletico Tucuman drew 0-0 at Tigre.
