Orlando City SC acquired midfielder Wilder Cartagena on loan from UAE side Al-Ittihad Kalba SC.
The deal announced Tuesday for the 27-year-old Peruvian runs to the end of 2022 and includes an option for 2023.
"Wilder is a player that brings valuable high-level experience to the table and will add strong defensive depth for us in the midfield," Orlando City general manager Luiz Muzzi said in a news release. "His time at various clubs around the world and on the international stage have given him a wealth of knowledge about the game and we're excited to have him with us now in The City Beautiful."
Cartagena has totaled seven goals and seven assists across 238 matches since making his pro debut in 2012.
He played in Portugal (Vitoria Setubal FC), Peru (Universidad San Martin), Mexico (Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz) and Argentina (CD Godoy Cruz) before joining Al-Ittihad Kalba SC in July 2021.
Cartagena's 18 caps with the Peruvian national team includes his selection for the 2018 World Cup squad.
