BUENOS AIRES, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Guido Mainero and Federico Andueza scored first-half goals as Sarmiento clinched a 2-1 away win over River Plate in Argentina's Primeira Division on Sunday.
Mainero put the visitors ahead just after the half-hour mark with a low finish after Fernando Martinez's through ball.
Andueza headed in Sarmiento's second goal following Mainero's delivery from a corner on the stroke of halftime.
The hosts reduced the deficit in the 67th minute when Emanuel Mammana slotted home following Juan Fernando Quintero's delivery from a set piece.
But Sarmiento held firm to secure their fourth victory from 11 matches this campaign and rise to 16th in the 28-team standings, four places below River.
In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Patronato eased to a 3-0 home win over Boca Juniors, Tigre drew 3-3 at Racing Club, Aldosivi won 1-0 at Lanus and Barracas drew 0-0 at Platense.
