Orlando City SC signed defender Rodrigo Schlegel to a new two-year contract.
The deal announced Wednesday includes club options for third and fourth seasons.
Schlegel, 24, played in 23 matches (16 starts) for a Lions defense that posted nine shutouts in 2021.
"Rodrigo has proven to everyone over the last couple years that he is a player who will give everything for Orlando and his dedication to everyone involved with the Club is incredible," general manager Luiz Muzzi said in a news release.
"Rodrigo has shown continuous growth both on and off the field since joining us and ensuring that he's with us for the next few years is another important step towards accomplishing our ultimate goals for this organization."
Schlegel appeared in 10 games (seven starts) in his debut MLS campaign in 2020.
He previously competed for Racing Club in his native Argentina's Primera Division.
