RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Former Tottenham and Barcelona midfielder Paulinho said Friday that he is motivated and eager for success as he embarks on his second spell with Brazilian giants Corinthians.
Paulinho spoke to the media for the first time since his return to the Brazilian Serie A side as a free agent was confirmed in mid-December.
"I'm a guy who is driven by challenges. I said I would come back one day and now I'm here," the 33-year-old box-to-box midfielder said. "It's a club that has given me great things. I want to be remembered as a Corinthians player from 2010 to the end of my cycle."
Paulinho rose to prominence during his first spell with Corinthians, in which he made 112 appearances across all competitions from 2010 to 2013.
In addition to the 2012 Copa Libertadores, he played a key role in the club's 2011 Brazilian Serie A triumph.
"The way Corinthians helped me build a fantastic story is phenomenal, but that time has gone and it's time to move on. I'm only thinking about the present and building for the future."
Following his 2013 move to Tottenham, Paulinho had spells with Guangzhou Evergrande, Barcelona and Al-Ahli.
He has been capped 56 times for Brazil's national team and was a part of the country's 2014 and 2018 World Cup squads.
