MEXICO CITY, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Colombian forward Julian Quinones scored a brace as Atlas rose to third in Mexico's Liga MX standings with a 3-0 win away to Necaxa on Friday.
Quinones combined with Julio Furch to fire the visitors ahead in the 23rd minute and he returned the favor by providing the pass for the Argentine forward to double the lead with a cool finish 12 minutes later.
The visitors made it 3-0 just after halftime when Quinones headed home after Diego Barbosa's shot ricochetted off a defender's foot.
The result at Estadio Victoria marked Atlas' first league victory since Aug. 9 and left them with 16 points from nine matches, four points behind leaders Club America.
Necaxa dropped to 12th in the 18-team standings with nine points from as many outings.
