BUENOS AIRES, May 8 (Xinhua ) -- A late goal from midfielder Lautaro Torres handed Patronato a 1-0 home win over Boca Juniors in the final round of the Argentine Primera Division regular season on Saturday.
Torres timed his run to perfection to meet a Bruno Urribarri cross from the left and send a 74th-minute header into the bottom left corner.
The result had little bearing on the quarterfinals with Boca already guaranteed of a place in the last eight and Patronato out of contention.
Meanwhile, Atletico Tucuman kept alive their hopes of progressing to the knockout phase with a 5-0 home win over Defensa y Justicia.
Augusto Lotti and Javier Toledo scored twice each while Nicolas Lamendola was also on target for the hosts.
Atletico Tucuman rose to fourth in Group B with 18 points from 13 matches. To advance to the quarterfinals, Diego Erroz's men need Colon to win their home clash with Union Santa Fe on Sunday and Independiente and Lanus to draw or lose their clashes with Huracan and Talleres Cordoba, respectively.
In other fixtures on Saturday, Banfield won 1-0 at Godoy Cruz and Velez Sarsfield romped to a 5-0 victory at Gimnasia.
