BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Mexican teenager Luca Martinez and veteran forward Lucas Gamba struck first-half goals as Rosario Central secured a 2-1 home victory over Argentinos Juniors in their opening fixture of Argentina's Professional League Cup on Monday.
Martinez, 19, struck from close range in the 41st minute and 33-year-old Gamba doubled the lead two minutes later following a perfectly weighted Rodrigo Villagra pass.
Juan Pucheta pulled a goal back for Argentinos Juniors when he rifled home a low finish after a bungled defensive clearance five minutes from time.
In Monday's only other game, a second-half goal from Guillermo Burdisso handed Lanus a 1-0 win at Independiente.
The matches completed a surprising opening weekend of fixtures, with defending champions Boca Juniors drawing 2-2 at home to Gimnasia and River Plate losing 2-1 at Estudiantes on Sunday.
